About Us
Southmont Baptist Church began in January, 1979, as a cooperative effort of the First Baptist Church of Denton, the Denton Baptist Association, and the Baptist General Convention of Texas. The church first met in a rented storefront near the current site of McMath Middle School.
Since that small beginning Southmont has grown to include more than 1,900 members meeting in a beautiful church plant that exceeds 65,000 square feet. We have facilities specifically constructed for preschoolers, children, youth, and adults. Our staff oversees ministries directed toward every age-group and a variety of needs.
