It is Bruce’s firm belief that he was created by God to glorify Him and enjoy Him forever. Since his conversion, it has been his desire and effort to follow always and only God’s direction, to serve Him where and how He leads and to labor with His people to make Him known by winning the lost, discipling the found and training the willing through the proclamation of His Word and by the power of His Holy Spirit. Bruce’s personal mission statement is “to be a blessing to all and a burden to none while developing leaders and churches to become successful in the market place and ministry.” His vision is to be a part of congregation fully engaged in service and devotion to Christ and the expansion of His kingdom.

Bruce’s life experiences have further qualified and prepared him for leadership and ministry. He is married to Donna Troy and recently celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary. They met in college where Bruce was a Civil Engineering Major and Donna was a Math Major. Two daughters have been the result of the marriage. Jennifer Brandon is married to Greg and lives in Duncanville, TX with their three sons, Jordan, Hayden, Logan and two German Shepherds. Rebecca Sutterer is married to Luke and has recently moved to Boston with twins, Ian and Cade. There is no question that the five grandsons are primary objects of their affection and subjects of their prayers.

Education has played an important role in developing Bruce’s pastoral and leadership skills. He began his Bachelor’s degree studies in engineering at New Mexico State University, but wound up graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion at Oklahoma Baptist University. A Master of Divinity degree was earned and the pursuit of a Doctor of Ministry was begun at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. After a seasonal halt due to life circumstances, such as two girls attending Texas Tech, a wedding celebration and the illnesses and deaths of Donna’s parents, the pursuit of a Doctor of Ministry degree was resumed at Baylor University’s Truett Theological Seminary. Bruce is scheduled to complete those studies in the next few months and hopes to participate in a 2010 graduation ceremony.

For the past four years, Bruce has added writing for Clarity Publishers to his busy schedule due to the invitation from StudentLife Ministries, Inc. He was privileged to be one of their annual contributors to the commentary section of their lesson plans the final four years of their six year student Bible study curriculum plan. All current writing is dedicated to the completion of a doctorate.

God has blessed Bruce with a wonderful companion, a faithful intercessor and a willing partner in ministry. Donna’s smile greets everyone with acceptance. A listening ear and gentle spirit makes even the most timid comfortable. She has spoken at Women’s Conferences, led Bible studies, coordinated weddings, directed VBS departments, organized events and hugged thousands of necks. Her love for children and their mom’s made the time she spent in El Paso as the Mentor to Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) a logical choice and blessing. Her primary role is that of being the pastor’s wife and actively engages in ministry as a partner and co-laborer with Bruce. For the last few years, she has worked outside of the home in the Oil & Gas industry and currently the mortgage industry, but her heart is always on ministry.
